//…A neighborhood babysitter mystified the young Matthew Paul, singing songs coming from a radio – he was entranced! How could she know the words and music from the unseen airwaves? Awestruck and intrigued he listened, and started along the long road to music.
He toted his guitar around the world for a year and a half traveling, playing, exploring his voice, with an ear open to styles that moved him emotionally.
Eventually he moved to Santa Fe New Mexico with his foxy lady Eliza, then Eugene Oregon, subsequently finding a new home in Seattle Washington, then in the throws of the grunge era.
He started instructing yoga and became a licensed massage therapist all the while playing and writing. A job opportunity drew him to southern Arizona to work with an MD named Gabriel Cousens at his retreat facility the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center. There in the desert of the Sonora he had ample time to write, play, and sing.
California called, with the prospect of running a yoga studio in the hamlet of Pacific Grove and Matthew located to Monterey in ‘05. He moved to Big Sur when the studio changed hands. He taught yoga and practicing massage at two very chic spa’s in Big Sur but moved back to Monterey to start on the course work to become a registered nurse.
For fun I mountain bike, hike, harvest sea vegetables, keep bees,
make sauerkraut and rock the funk out!
I was born in the Philadelphia area and was exposed to classical and opera music at an early age. My father was a fan and constantly played the radio. For years I fooled around with and played underneath a baby grand piano that my sister and mom practice on regularly.
But even earlier in life, as a young child, a neighborhood babysitter mystified me. She sang songs coming from a radio and I was entranced! How could she know the words and music from the unseen airwaves? Awestruck and intrigued I always listened to the radio and started along this path.
Early pop and rock influences of the 60’s 70’s and 80’s were
the backdrop of my life as I started playing air guitar like every other fool and eventually borrowed a friend’s six string and started strumming along. I think the first album I ever bought was Animals by Pink Floyd. Still love it! Hendrix, The Who, The Doors, The Stones, and all the era pop made a serious impression!

Eventually we moved to Santa Fe New Mexico and then Eugene Oregon. My partner of many years and I parted ways and after more travels I found a new home in Seattle Washington in the throws of the grunge era.
